Call to Confession:
Liturgist: On World Communion Sunday, we come to confess our sins, remembering the ways that our communion with our brothers and sisters across the globe is fractured and in need of healing. Together we pray:
Prayer of Confession:
All: People: Merciful God, we confess that we have not honored the image of God in each of our brothers and sisters across the world. You call us to be one, but we are torn apart by bitter division. You call us to love our neighbors, but instead we set our minds to war and hatred. You call us to set the table for all of your children, but instead we exclude and ignore. Forgive us for these sins, and teach us to honor your name. Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Assurance of Pardon:
Liturgist: Friends, hear the good news— Jesus died for us while we were yet sinners. This proves God’s love toward us. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!
Congregation: In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.
All: Glory to God. Amen
