A Mid-Week Ministry for All Ages

The Wednesday Night Live program at Franklin First UMC is one of the most comprehensive events in the life of our church. Wednesday Night Live is a place where you can find renewal. A renewal that shapes us, strengthens our relationships with others and most importantly, draws us closer to Christ.

We eat together each Wednesday night from 5:15 – 6:15 p.m. during our Wednesday Night Live semester. The price for the adult meal is $12. Children’s meal is $6.

This hour is geared toward Older Adults, but all are welcome! This semester Wednesday Afternoon Live (WAL) will be offering The Message of Jesus: Words that Changed the World and a Lenten bible study called The Gospel of John: A Beginners Guide to The Way, The Truth and The Life. See below for details on those studies.

Short-Term Study: The Message of Jesus: Words that Changed the World

4:00 – 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Sarah Carty (January 15 – February 26) HYBRID – Zoom and In-person. 

Jesus’s message is not only life-changing, but world-changing. This study by Adam Hamilton explores  Jesus’s preaching on the Kingdom of God, the Sermon on the Mount, the parables, the “I am” sayings in John, and more. Unpack how Jesus continues to speak to us today as we strive to follow Him. Meets in Room A-114. Books are available for $12.00 and can be purchased below, or in class.

Lenten Study: The Gospel of John: A Beginners Guide to The Way, The Truth and The Life

4:00 – 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Sarah Carty (March 19 – April 30) HYBRID – Zoom and in-person

Join Pastor Sarah to discuss New Testament Scholar Amy-Jill Levine’s  book on the Gospel of John. Unpack the stories of Jesus in their original context, along with examining how the sacred text is read today. From  the wedding at Cana to Mary Magdalene the tomb and meetings with the risen Christ, open your heart and mind to a deeper faith in Jesus this Lenten season.  Meets in Room A-114. Books are available for $14.00 and can be purchased below, or in class.

United4Hope Training (Partnership with Freedom Middle School): January 15

If you would like to serve with us at Freedom Middle in the school in any way (working with students, admin. help, teacher support), please plan to attend this United4Hope training event Wednesday, January 15 at 6:30 pm in room B132. Women’s Bible Study

This semester, join in on the discussion of Lisa Toney’s study, Perfectly Flawed, a study of the Apostle Peter. See how Peter’s story is an invitation to embrace imperfection, find strength in the relentless grace of God, and discover how each one of us is perfectly flawed but still deeply loved by God. Triumph Over Trauma (WNL Offering)

6:15-7:15 p.m.  – with Rev. Neeley Hicks (January 15 – February 26 in room A214) HYBRID – Zoom and In-person. 

Trauma comes in many forms and can have severe, long-lasting effects on individuals, families, and communities. Identifying trauma, learning to deal with it, heal from it, and moving forward can help you and those around you. Triumph Over Trauma is a 7-week curriculum focused on helping people discuss trauma in group settings and develop coping mechanisms. It pulls from the national trauma recovery program, Trauma Addictions Mental Health and Recovery (TAMAR) and is not meant to replace other forms of mental health care. Rev. Neeley Hicks, an ordained Deacon in the Tennessee/Western Kentucky Conference of the UMC, will be leading our sessions. There is no cost to participate in this class.

First Kids Presents: Conversations that Matter

6:30-7:15 p.m. -Meets in Room C268 (Feb. 5, Feb. 25, & Apr. 2)

Parents, come to a round-table discussion about those vital conversations that matter. Each month will have a new topic such as technology & cyber-safety, how to pray with your family, combating the entitlement mindset, and more. Meets in the Children’s Area.
