The Respite is a place for rest, a place to bring balance to your day utilizing the creative process to help you explore self-expression, meditation, and centering.

Understanding The Respite

The Respite has nothing to do with how well you draw, sculpt, paint, or any other creative method. The Respite is not an art class, and it doesn’t just keep you busy so you don’t think about “it” for a little while. Instead, The Respite uses art to slow down your mind and create a space where you can take a breath, catch your footing and be mindful of the space around you.

How Art Heals…

  • Healing art helps with anxiety.

  • Healing art is helpful with the journey through grief.

  • Healing art is effective for someone with dementia, Alzheimers, and may help the quality of life of those with Parkinson’s.

  • Healing art enables the psychological component of substance abuse recovery by providing an emotional outlet and a means of self-expression.

  • Healing art is helpful for younger children who may be struggling with how to fit into a world that doesn’t look, feel or act like they do.

  • Healing art can give you an outlet for voicing feelings and fears. It’s difficult to express these emotions with words when you are struggling with loss or trauma.
