Who We Are
Franklin FUMC Preschool/PDO is proud to be a over 50 years strong. Our half day program is well established and has been loving and nurturing children for decades! We strive to create an environment that provides a positive foundation of learning and sense of self for each individual child. We are located on the Main Campus of Franklin First United Methodist Church.
Our Purpose
We provide your child a loving Christian environment where they grow to become part of a caring, responsible community. We are designed to take a child from the first group experience as a toddler to a Kindergarten readiness classroom that prepares them for future adventures in education.
We believe that the whole child is important. We look at your child’s development as spiritual, emotional, social, mental and physical and provide opportunities to develop each of these areas at his or her own pace. As one of a child’s first school experiences with, it is important that it is positive, uplifting and enjoyable.
The trust extended to us to care for children is not taken lightly. We will strive to make this program a meaningful place for both you and your child!

Jennifer Thorington (Right)
Jennifer has been the Preschool Director since March of 2014. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Tennessee Tech University and taught elementary school music before moving into the field of Early Childhood in 2007. Jennifer and her husband, Jacob, have 3 children, all graduates of FFUMC Preschool!
Suzanne Strong (Left)
Suzanne has been a part of FUMC preschool since 2006. She spent many years teaching children at every age within our preschool! Suzanne became the Assistant Director in 2014. She and her husband, Jim, have adult twin sons and an amazing daughter-in-law.
Each week the Children’s Ministry staff of Franklin First UMC visit the Preschool children for chapel time. We sing songs, learn Bible stories, and pray together. We use an A-Z curriculum and celebrate a different story or attribute of God for each alphabet letter.
Staff
Our wonderful team of teachers provides the most loving and safe environment for children to learn and grow. Some of our staff have been with us 20+ years, while others have gotten to know us as their children went through the program and then joined our team! Our teachers are highly qualified through years of experience and often advanced educational degrees.
All Franklin First Preschool & Parent’s Day Out teachers are CPR and First Aid certified for both adults and children. All teachers earn a minimum of 18 hours of additional training annually.
