Lent is a sacred 40-day season in the Christian calendar that gently invites people to prepare their hearts for Easter. It is a time to slow down, reflect, pray, and grow closer to Christ as the Church remembers Jesus’ journey to the cross and celebrates the hope and joy of His resurrection. At Franklin First UMC, Lent is an opportunity to walk together in faith, rediscover God’s grace, and open hearts to the renewal and hope that Easter brings.

The Book of Forgiving by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Rev. Mpho Tutu. This study focuses on the healing and transformation found through forgiveness.
Led by Kevin Hostler and sponsored by the Race & Faith Committee, the group meets Mondays at 6:30 PM, February 23–March 30, 2026, in A114 Parlor. Participants are encouraged to purchase the book through their preferred bookseller.
Explore the unexpected in the Easter story by looking through the eyes of those who witnessed it. Led by Rev Sarah Carty, this study reflects on themes like devotion, courage, and freedom while discovering how the resurrection still invites people into something new today. Begins February 25, 5–6 PM OR 6:15-7:15 PM in Room A114 (Parlor). Online option available!
YOU are invited to join the 6-week Lenten Choir at Franklin First UMC. Rehearsals are Wednesdays at 6:30 PM during Lent, preparing for a Good Friday presentation of Canticle of the Cross, a Celtic-inspired cantata reflecting on Christ’s journey to the Cross. All experience levels are welcome. Fill out an interest form below or contact Garth Olson for more information. Begins February 25th!
