Call to Confession:
Leader: The Lord knows our sin and brokenness, yet still equips and prepares us for holy living. Confession aligns our minds and spirits to Christ, who calls us into God’s redeeming work on earth. Therefore, let us confess our sin to God and one another:
Prayer of Confession:
People: God of Mystery,
we want to stay awake
and be ready for your surprises,
but we are tired and overcome
with the usual routine.
We want to wait patiently
for the fulfillment of your kingdom,
but we are frustrated by our need
for immediate gratification.
We want to believe your promises from ancient days,
but we are overwhelmed with postmodern doubts.
Come to us again, O God.
Awaken us with your unexpected grace.
Shock us with your daring mercy.
Lift us up from lethargy
and set our feet on your path once more. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon:
Leader: The mercy of God is a gift that meets us daily as we turn attention to hear. Seen by your Creator; redeemed by your Savior, may you be released and freed! In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.
People to leader: In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!
Leader and people: Glory to God. Amen.
