Saturday’s Creation Care sponsored tree planting day was a wonderful success! Over 200 bare root seedlings were planted in and around our Riparian Buffer and at the edge of the track. It was a day of learning, exploration and working together. What a benefit this will be for all God’s creatures and future generations! Read on for participant experiences….
“On Saturday our confirmation class went to work in the Giving Garden and also went on a prayer walk. This trip to the Giving Garden was special, we normally help pick weeds, but this time we got to plant many different types of trees. This made me feel as if I was helping God with his plan for our Earth. Kay Matthews helped us learn more about how we can help God with his plan and how we need more native plants and animals in our towns. It was a wonderful day and I’m grateful to have been a witness to some of the wonderful things that our church does.” – Cailyn Turvy, FFUMC 2023 Confirmation class member
“With the heavy rains the night before the scheduled Creation Care event on Saturday, I feared that our workday might be cancelled. Instead, God brought us a beautiful sunny day with nice soft soil from the rain, which made removal of the invasive privet and honeysuckle easier. Digging the soil to place the many trees near the paths and creeks was no problem and the extra moisture in the soil was a bonus. The highlight of the day for me, as a relatively new church member, was meeting other church members and working together on the common goal of caring for God’s creation.” – Cindy Macon, FFUMC member
