Leader: The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. Therefore, let us confess our sin to God and one another:
Prayer of Confession:
People: Gracious God, we confess that we desire to give you everything until it comes time to really act. We desire mercy for ourselves, but often withhold mercy when others need it. We ask for forgiveness but don’t do the humble work of forgiving others. We give our gifts with strings attached and fail to trust you to bless whatever we give for your purposes, not our own.
Open our hearts to give with the same joy you offered to us in your abundant provision. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon:
Leader: Friends, you are loved beyond measure. There is nothing you can do to take away that love. When we confess our sin to God and one another, the mercy of the Lord restores us in this truth. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!
