A Mid-Week Ministry for All Ages

The Wednesday Night Live program at Franklin First UMC is one of the most comprehensive events in the life of our church. Wednesday Night Live is a place where you can find renewal. A renewal that shapes us, strengthens our relationships with others and most importantly, draws us closer to Christ.

    Note: Classes will not be held on October 8 due to WCS Fall Break and November 26 due to Thanksgiving.

We eat together each Wednesday night from 5:15 – 6:15 p.m. during our Wednesday Night Live semester. The price for the adult meal is $12. Children’s meal is $6.

This hour is geared toward Older Adults, but all are welcome! This semester Wednesday Afternoon Live (WAL) will be offering We Believe: How the Nicene Creed Can Deepen Your Faith; Why?: Making Sense of God’s Will; and Voices of Advent: The Bible’s Insights for a Season of Hope.   See below for details on those studies.

Short-Term Study: We Believe: How the Nicene Creed Can Deepen Your Faith

4:00 – 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Sarah Carty (Aug. 13 – Sept. 17) HYBRID – Zoom and In-person. 

Using Pastor Michael Carpenter’s empowering book, We Believe, we will unpack this foundational creed in order to enrich our faith and deepen our understanding of Christian beliefs. Books are not required, but encouraged and are available for $14.00

Short-Term Study: Why?: Making Sense of God's Will

4:00 – 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Sarah Carty (Oct. 1 – Oct. 29) HYBRID – Zoom and In-person. 

Where is God when tragedy and suffering strike? When the ground shakes, and a poor nation’s economy is destroyed; when the waters rise, washing away a community’s hopes and dreams; when a child suffers neglect and abuse; when violence tears apart nations… where is God? In Adam Hamilton’s book, Why? we will explore some fresh insights to the age-old question of how to understand the will of God. In 4 weeks together, we will look to Scripture and discuss core ideas for comprehending God’s plan for the world, and in that, find hope. Books are not required, but are available. Cost of the book is $8.00.

Advent Study: Voices of Advent: The Bible's Insights for a Season of Hope

4:00 – 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Sarah Carty (Nov. 5 – Dec. 17) HYBRID – Zoom and in-person

In this study by Professor Matthew Skinner, we will experience Advent with the Scriptures that shape our lives and Christmas celebrations. As we listen carefully to the Bible’s various perspectives that shape our preparations for Christmas; we will hear hope in all of them. As we begin the Christian Church Year, we will hear the powerful overture that sets the tone for the incredible story of Jesus.  Cost of the book is $14.

Pastor’s Bible Study with Pastor Bryan Brooks.

All Semester, 6:30 – 7:15 pm – Led by Dr. Bryan Brooks

Pastor Bryan will journey through the Letter to the Hebrews this Fall.  No homework required, but bring an open mind, a journal and pen for notes, and your Bible! This class will be in person with a recording available on-line.

Disciple 2

6:15 – 8:30 pm  (Sept – May); led by Kevin Hostler and Ron Styers – HYBRID (Zoom and in-person) 

Disciple 2 is an in-depth study of Genesis, Exodus, Luke, and Acts. Genesis and Exodus are foundational books of the Bible that cover creation, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and more. You will also study the Gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts and be encouraged to practice spiritual disciplines. This is a 32-week study, Disciple 1 is a suggested pre-requisite. Books and supplies are $45.

Women’s Bible Study

All Semester, 6:15-7:15 p.m.  – with Niki Sullivan (Aug. – Nov.)

Come join women of all ages to dive into Scripture together and support each other in prayer.

Triumph Over Trauma (WNL Offering)

6:15-7:15 p.m.  – with Ruthann Roberts & Steve Fulton (Aug. 13 – Sept. 24) 

This 7-week encounter is for anyone who has experienced trauma, small or significant.  This class will help one learn practices on how to cope with trauma and eventually conquer the effects of trauma. First Kids Presents: Conversations that Matter

6:30-7:15 p.m. -Meets in Room C268

Parents, come to a round-table discussion about those vital conversations that matter. Each month will have a new topic such as technology & cyber-safety, how to pray with your family, combating the entitlement mindset, and more. Meets in the Children’s Area. Stay tuned for details!

Room in the Inn Academy

6:15 – 7:30 pm – with Barbara Layden and Friends (October 15) REGISTER HERE for this class.

Franklin First UMC hosts Room in the Inn (RITI) each Thursday night from November to March.  RITI Academy provides a picture of how we provide hospitality for our RITI guests, how to sign up and manage your volunteer commitments, and provides a glimpse into the landscape of homelessness in our community.
