A quick look at the conversations going on in the garden today and I will tell you this was a magical day for me today. There’s a young woman working in this picture who walked over from the Healing House to help us this morning. I needed to make a delivery to Nashville Food Project and she said, “Can I ride with you?” And I can’t even explain how amazing the next 3 hours were with this young woman. I’m still trying to process our conversation but I learned so much from her and I am so thankful she decided to spend her day off from work with us.

And then I went to pick up some food crates from our friend, Phil Rutledge, at Graceworks and we had a lovely catch up conversation. After I loaded the crates in my car, Phil asked me if I would like a bouquet of flowers that they get donated from a local store. Who wouldn’t love a dozen yellow roses but as I headed home I looked over at Somerby Assisted Living and thought about our dear garden friend, Bill Hawkins, and his devotion to his wife who is in the memory care unit. It’s been a long time since I have seen Joanne but I will always remember her as “elegant” and I knew those yellow roses had her name all over them. I dropped them at the front desk and when I got in the car I could only be thankful for the relationships I have made as a result of the Giving Garden and the valuable lessons learned. I give thanks to God for Samantha, Phil, Bill and all of you. ~Janie Luna
