I hope you had the opportunity to work with this lady at The Giving Garden this year.
Alina Moore was our 2023 Summer Intern. We first met her a couple of years ago as a Page High School senior volunteering for service hours. She applied for the intern position and we were delighted. She is such a diligent worker, willing to do many tasks. She sees things to be done and steps right in to do it without even being asked.
As the intern, Alina stepped into the role of a Hoop House leader, tending the 480 tomato plants and leading other volunteers who assisted her. At some point she worked in all major areas of the garden including distribution deliveries….
and driving the Barbie Cart to the compost pile!
To acknowledge her time with us and to show our thanks and support for her future, we had an end-of-the-internship pot luck!
After celebrating Alina, baskets of field peas were brought out and an old fashioned ‘shelling’ commenced.
Alina is returning to UT Knoxville as a Sophomore majoring in Econ.
Many of you showered her with things for her apartment as well as gift cards to various businesses. As a way to say “thank you” to ALL of you, as many gifts were given anonymously, Alina shares…..
Alina we will miss you but feel blessed to have had you alongside in The Giving Garden.
See you in the garden,
Marie Hurley
