Nashville, TN

Based on a model founded in 1998 in Dallas, Texas, Project Transformation Tennessee launched in 2012 to address three unique challenges with
one program:
1, How to meet the academic, physical, social-emotional, and spiritual needs
of children;
2. How to provide meaningful ways for college-age young adults to explore ministry opportunities and develop as young leaders for the church and the world; and
3. How to help churches connect with their communities.

Franklin First UMC’s Courtney Aldrich Lawson experienced Project Transformation as a college student in Texas, and the Spirit led her to bring this beautiful ministry to her home church and conference.

Project Transformation’s collaborative model of ministry harnesses the creative energy and leadership of young adults, who live in intentional Christian community and lead summer and afterschool programs for children. Each week, these young adult interns meet with church and nonprofit leaders to explore various ministry-related vocations and spend time discerning their vocational call to life-long service. Programs are held at churches located in neighborhoods experiencing marginalization, thereby helping those churches connect in meaningful ways with their communities. Dozens of other churches and organizations throughout Tennessee partner together to support this work, investing in young lives with their time and resources.

Today, PT serves over 2,000 children in the greater Nashville area and has equipped over 200 college-age young adults in ministry. Project Transformation is a separate 501c3 organization governed by a local Board of Directors. Franklin FUMC supports Project Transformation as a partner church.
