Franklin First has a long history of serving in Guatemala dating back to 1999. Our visits to Guatemala have taken many different shapes and many organizations. Today, we continue our love for Guatemala with a partnership with
ACD Guatemala.

Franklin First, through the vision of several leaders, became a founding partner for ACD Guatemala (Association for Creativity and Development). ACD is a non-profit and faith-based organization with a mission to serve children and families that are exposed to vulnerable conditions, including violence and irregular migration in rural Guatemala.

ACD focuses on education, development, medical and spiritual care as well as helping children and teens form healthy relationships and participate in community growth.

ACD is a mission partner who vividly seeks the Kingdom first. Their involvement in their community helps make their corner of the world, in the Western Highlands of Guatemala, look a bit more like the Kingdom of God, and their work is changing lives every day. Ask anyone who has been to ACD or even spoken with founder Lucia Munoz Argueta and you will hear beautiful stories of how God’s work is clearly on display through this organization and in this community.

Franklin First supports the work of ACD in several ways including financial support, regular visits, collections for water filters and stoves, and educational sponsorships.

You may participate in this wonderful mission by attending a trip to experience ACD Guatemala or supporting those who travel by donating air miles. If travel is not an option for you, Franklin FUMC also supports several children’s education, typically around $650 per child. These sponsorships include allowing children to continue in school beyond 6th grade as well as providing after-school support and even helping provide food for their families.
