Franklin, TN

Meals on Wheels was started at Franklin First back in 1975 when several church members noticed the need to provide warm meals to the elderly or homebound in our neighborhood. Through the years, this small group grew into a community movement including several other faith-based organizations. Today, 11 groups come together to cook meals for around 130 guests following the 8 routes the drivers follow.

Meals on Wheels is a beautiful picture of what it looks like for the community to come together to love their neighbors.

Different groups have assigned weeks and days where they are responsible for food prep and delivery. Franklin First participates in this mission by serving on our designated weeks as well as hosting this mission in our kitchen.

Meals on Wheels is another mission that takes our ministry outside the walls of this church. We work with our partners to ensure that even when people cannot get out or cook for themselves they will have a warm meal. Meals on Wheels helps Franklin look more like the Kingdom of God by providing not only meals but friendship and connection for many who often feel forgotten and isolated.

We are so fortunate to be able to share in this work here in Franklin. Meals are cooked and delivered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. If you have an interest in helping as a cook or driver, please contact Meals on Wheels coordinator, Nancy Armfield at 615-944-2003 or nanmail2003@gmail.com
