CHRISTMAS 2024 • FRANKLIN FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

The Sundays in Advent

Advent begins not with the light of a star over a manger, but with a focus on the light Christ will bring at the end of time. As we enter this season, we look forward to the coming of the Son of Man, whose light reveals both judgment and hope, calling us to prepare our hearts. Advent invites us to wait, reflect, and be renewed in the promise of Christ’s return—a journey from darkness into light, anticipation into joy.

Join us for Sundays in Advent! Worship with us at our Main Campus on Mack Hatcher at 8:30, 10:00, and 11:15 a.m., or at our Historic Sanctuary on Fifth Avenue at 8:30 a.m. You can also join us online through our livestream.

We can’t wait to celebrate the Christmas season with you!

Advent Study Wednesdays

Wednesdays in November & December (Nov. 20 through Dec. 18) from 4:00-5:00 pm OR  6:30 – 7:30 pm.

RSVP Here

In The Christmas Letters, Rev. Magrey deVega issues the invitation to hear about the miracle of Christ’s birth from those who first told the story in the New Testament Epistles. These letters contain the first attempts by the church to understand and celebrate the mystery of the Incarnation. They point us to the origins of what we believe about Jesus, fully human and fully divine. By spending time with these holy, ancient words this Advent, we will deepen our understanding of the Incarnation and embrace a fuller commitment to Jesus Christ. Cost of the book is $12.

A Festival of Lessons & Carols

Join us for a Festival of Lessons & Carols on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at 6:00 PM at the Main Campus in Wesley Hall.

The service will incorporate poetic & Gospel narratives with choral anthems, participatory carols and hymns, and praise songs, so that all worshipers can be taken on a transformational journey. The service will include Chancel Choir, chamber ensemble, Angel Chorus (children’s choir), the Modern Worship Band, liturgical dance, and narrators. May this service be an extraordinary worship gathering that retells and celebrates the Christmas story through a musical cantata composed of lessons and carols.

Christmas Sweater Tea

Adults 65 and up, make this Christmas extra special by joining us on Thursday, December 5 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. for a special music program, while enjoying tea, coffee, sandwiches, cookies and other delectable treats.
