Dear FFUMC Family,
This year, we reached out to support our neighboring school, Freedom Middle School, and thanks to your generosity, we have made a significant impact. Here are just a few of the many ways you’ve shown up:
Donations of Snacks and Hygiene Items for Students:
Being a middle schooler comes with its own challenges, and it’s even harder when basic needs like food and hygiene aren’t being met. Thanks to your contributions, we’ve been able to provide a variety of snacks, deodorant, hair care products, toothpaste, and more for our students. Your kindness has made a tangible difference in their lives.
Notes and School Supplies for Teachers:
A kind word can make all the difference. The encouraging notes you’ve written to teachers have been deeply appreciated, with many educators keeping them as reminders of support during difficult days. Additionally, your donations of essential school supplies, including dry erase markers, have been invaluable. Special thanks to The Sisters Circle for preparing and replenishing custom supply baskets for the teacher workrooms!
Partnerships and Candy:
Our FMS students demonstrated true partnership spirit by hosting a trunk at our Trunk or Treat event this Halloween, and many of you attended their production of The Little Mermaid this fall. Your leftover candy donations served as wonderful incentives for students and teachers alike, bringing smiles and boosting morale. Our tween students created goodie bags for the FMS custodial and support staff, too!
Christmas Cheer:
After Thanksgiving break, we surprised the staff with a table full of seasonal treats, and the Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes were a clear favorite! To top it off, we had the privilege of sponsoring Christmas gifts for 98 FMS students and their siblings. Your generosity ensured that many children woke up on Christmas morning feeling loved and valued.
Looking Ahead – Spring Semester:
As we look forward to the spring, we are excited to announce a “Support a Superhero” event, where you will have the opportunity to select a school employee and provide items from their favorite things and school wishlists. We also plan to become more involved in the schools with initiatives like hosting a teacher lunch before Spring Break and offering volunteer support to assist teachers and mentor students.
To volunteer, please attend training through United 4 Hope, the nonprofit organization that manages our partnership with Franklin Special School District. Training sessions will be held on Wednesday, January 15th at 6:30 PM and Sunday, February 2nd at 11:15 AM. REGISTER HERE. We encourage you to join us!
Thank you, FFUMC, for your unwavering commitment to loving our middle school neighbors in Franklin, TN. Your dedication reflects the heart of our mission: seeking first the kingdom of God and spreading God’s love to those around us.
In Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love,
