“I began serving with Meals on Wheels years ago when Janeil Westbrook called and asked me to deliver. Selfishly I agreed because I wanted my children to see the diversity of their Franklin neighbors. After the bookstore, where I worked closed, I contacted Janeil hoping I could serve again. This time I helped cook the meals one Monday a month and enjoyed all the people I was serving with. Later I took over the responsibility for our church’s week and now I oversee the 11 churches that make up the Franklin Community Meals on Wheels.

I’ve continued to serve because I see what a worthwhile ministry this is for our neighbors. I may not be stopping at their doorstep as often, but I hear their stories from those who knock on their door. This ministry gives all of us the opportunity to build relationships with the folks who we serve, the members of other churches who serve, and those in this church family who choose to show God’s love by sharing a friendly smile and a warm meal to our neighbors.”
