It is our tradition to send our Christmas Eve offering to support a specific mission. This year the Christmas offering will be given to two local ministries:
Healing Housing is a residential recovery community for women healing from alcohol and drug addiction. Opened in early 2017, Healing Housing’s two homes provide a safe, supportive environment where women who have completed drug treatment can continue to grow in their sobriety. One of their homes is also our neighbor, just across the street on Franklin Road. We know that addiction destroys lives and families. With a supportive environment and healthy practices, many people find new life and freedom from the heartache and destruction of addiction. The women from Healing Housing often spend time serving in our Giving Garden. It is a joy when we can serve with our friends and neighbors. Ebenezer Iglesia Metodista Unida (Ebenezer UMC) is a United Methodist congregation in Nashville with whom we have been in covenant over 15 years. Pastora Myriam Cortes leads this congregation that represents over 7 different countries. This congregation has traveled with us to serve in Guatemala and Pastora Myriam has assisted us in serving our Latino families here at FFUMC. Ebenezer has a specific need for a bi-lingual youth pastor to lead the youth ministry for this growing community of faith. We know from our experience of youth ministry here at FFUMC that having a trained leader to guide and teach the youth is essential to preparing disciples for the journey of a life grounded in Christ. Ebenezer is partnering with the Center for Youth Ministry Training to place the right person and equip them to develop the youth ministry at Ebenezer. We believe this is some of the most impactful work we can encourage to serve youth growing up in the church today.
