The Festival of Thin Bread, also called Passover, was near. The chief priests and the teachers of the Law of Moses were looking for a way to get rid of Jesus, because they were afraid of what the people might do. Then Satan entered the heart of Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve apostles. Judas went to talk with the chief priests and the officers of the temple police about how he could help them arrest Jesus. They were very pleased and offered to pay Judas some money. He agreed and started looking for a good chance to betray Jesus when the crowds were not around.”  Luke 22:1-6

Station 4

The political leaders had been searching for ways to stop Jesus. He worried them, and his countercultural teachings threatened their seats of power. If this Jewish man continued to gain popularity, he could soon overtake their authority.

Judas was one of the disciples. He had spent years traveling with Jesus, eating with Jesus, doing ministry with Jesus. But sadly, Judas goes to the chief priests to give them their chance to take Jesus down.

Do you think Judas regretted this decision?
What must it have felt like to betray and hand over Jesus?
Do you have any regrets? Anything you want to lay before God?

Though it is challenging and often painful, sit for a moment with those regrets and mistakes. Feel the weight of how you might have harmed another with your words and deeds. Ask God to reveal the places in your life where change is needed, and ask God for the strength to make those changes. Move to the white fence of the horse track for station five.
