And be the Hands and Feet of Jesus!
I am in the third year of a Bible study with a group of 6 friends. Probably our favorite part is learning the back story and the reasons behind Jesus’ actions and miracles. Jesus knew that a person’s physical needs must be met so they can receive his spiritual healing message. Jesus healed them and fed them so they could receive God’s blessings.
Our church has been doing this same ministry in Guatemala. Clean water, clean energy, and healthcare have been the focus of our mission trips over the past years. Children and women also now come to ACD (Association for Creativity and Development) for education, recreation, and spiritual development. We travel to the poorest parts of the city to install efficient wood burning stoves that vent to the outside. We deliver and set up water filters that have made a huge impact on infant mortality and eliminating intestinal parasites. In one week, we will see 240 people come to our medical clinic to receive healthcare and medications. We visit, make friends, and pray with the families.
The author of our Bible study book says his life’s goal is “to make Jesus famous.” Franklin First is making the same impact from the Giving Garden in Franklin, Tennessee down to the dirt roads of Guatemala.
Our next trip to Guatemala is scheduled for October 27 – November 4. Come join us to be a part of this truly transformational experience. If you’re interested in learning more about the trip, reach out to Pastor Carlisle (cjones@franklinfumc.org).
